Homemade Pizza Sauce

Just like pasta, the sauce on a pizza is crucial. If it's too tomatoey or not tomatoey-enough, it will destroy the pizza. The key to a good pizza sauce is its simplicity. This one is a tried and true recipe, and has been in our family for generations. This recipe is based on three pizzas.

Ingredients

2 cans chopped tomatoes
Handful of Italian basil
Dried oregano
1 jar tomato salsa
Splash of olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste

Method
Add the oil to a saucepan and make sure the oil is hot. Add in salsa and cook for 2-3 mins.
Add in chopped tomatoes. Cook for 5 mins. Add in basil and salt and pepper to taste.
Reduce heat, sprinkle oregano and simmer for 20-25 mins. Stir occasionally and add water if sauce becomes too thick or dry.
